Almost half of parents of children with disabilities struggle to find a school that meets their child’s needs

Families are reaching “breaking point” while navigating the SEND system to secure necessary support for their children. Tiya Currie, a mother from north London, shares her emotional journey in securing educational help for her son, Arun, who has Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Facing dismissals and bureaucratic hurdles, Tiya resorted to spending £16,000 on assessments and legal support. Despite challenges, Arun has found placement, highlighting broader systemic issues demanding urgent reform.
