Government’s efforts to address violence against women and girls have not yet improved outcomes for victims

A new report reveals that despite government commitments, efforts to tackle violence against women and girls (VAWG) have not led to improved outcomes for victims. While 78% of commitments from the 2021 VAWG Strategy and Domestic Abuse Plan have been met, many were minor actions, with little progress in preventing violence or delivering long-term change. The Home Office lacks a clear understanding of what works, and without strong leadership and accountability, the government’s goal to halve VAWG within a decade remains uncertain.
