Course outline

Coined by Harvard professor Amy Edmonson, the concept of psychological safety has gained momentum over the last few years. There are huge benefits to a community where all members feel psychologically safe. This interactive seminar will encourage delegates to reflect on their school culture and consider ways to ensure a sense of psychological safety for all.

Training topics will include:

  • Key characteristics of psychological safety
  • Impact on culture, performance and wellbeing
  • Strategies to create a safe culture and open communication
  • Common barriers and how to address them

  • Develop a clear understanding of psychological safety as a concept
  • Identify the hallmarks of a culture of psychological safety in your setting
  • Learn practical strategies to improve psychological safety

Gaelle Sullivan, Director of Research, Inclusion and IELA

Gaelle is Director of Research, Inclusion and IELA and joined the BSA in January 2023. She is an experienced senior leader and has worked in a range of state and independent schools. She is a qualified SENCO and holds a Masters Degree in Inclusive Education. Prior to joining the BSA, Gaelle was Deputy Head Pastoral, DSL and Head of Boarding at an all-girls independent school in the South-East.
