Speaker:

Jennifer Oneilkaan, Head of EDI and Social Education at Ardingly College

Jennifer is Head of EDI and Social Education at Ardingly College, alongside her work as a teacher of English. Her focus has been on building a compassionate, inclusive and dynamic culture at the College where the traditional moral foundations can evolve into a 21st century concern for social justice and celebration of the richness of our diverse community. Initiatives include an EDI House Rep programme which ensures students drive change, selection as one of ten UK schools to launch the Female Lead Ambassador programme, and the creation of the ‘Good Woman’ workshop which focuses on girls’ reclamation of their voice and confidence and encourages sisterhood. She runs a variety of student-led EDI societies from New Era feminist society to Ubuntu Anti-Racism society, and has worked with College staff to encourage cross-section collaboration toward EDI aims, and trains them to reflect on their practice. She is passionate about the impact empowering young people to think critically and advocate for social change can have.
