The Welsh GCSE English curriculum has been updated to include a broader range of texts that reflect modern and inclusive perspectives. This change follows the removal of classic American novels such as Of Mice and Men and To Kill a Mockingbird due to concerns about their potentially harmful impact on students, particularly regarding racial issues . The updated syllabus now offers texts that explore themes of diversity and inclusion, aiming to provide a more relevant and supportive educational experience for all students. Texts available will also include a Guardian interview with Chris Packham, TV naturalist, who has spoken openly about his autism.
