Course outline
Unconscious bias is a term most are now familiar with, however in this half day seminar we will be looking at how to challenge and mitigate this bias whilst understanding the benefits of doing so. We will take this one step further by looking at how to shift the mindset of your community in order to actively change the narrative. Practical ideas will be shared to help you learn and work with others to help them identify their bias and how to combat bias that may be at play in your setting.
Training topics will include:
- Session 1: How to mitigate your bias
- The dangers of Bias
- How to address and mitigate your bias in your decision making
- The benefits of acknowledging and being aware of bias
- Session 2: Change the thinking in your community
- How to work as a team to identify where bias shows up in your setting
- How to interrupt bias behaviour
- How to actively change the narrative

Mutisunge Edwards is the first ever full-time equity, diversity and inclusion lead at Christ’s Hospital School. Mutisunge Edwards is now working closely with staff in all departments, as well as with pupils, to help ensure that all aspects of the school’s work are viewed through the EDI lens. Her background is predominantly in Early Years education. Throughout her career, she has tried to implement change and integrate inclusion from a young age.
